Mohammed Pervez, Leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Philip Atkins, Leader of Staffordshire County Council have today (Thursday) announced that Stoke-on-Trent City Council, Staffordshire County Council and private sector partners have agreed a new framework for the future development of the economy of the city and Staffordshire.

Stoke-on-Trent City Councillors today [Thursday] backed plans to scrap the controversial NSRP, putting hundreds of jobs at risk in the City. At a meeting of the Full Council, elected members backed plans to form a new Local Enterprise Partnership [LEP] with neighbours Staffordshire County Council. Councillors also voiced concern about historical problems between the County Council and the City when trying to get Stoke-on-Trent's fair share of any joint funded venture. The Townsend Carnival takes place this Saturday 24th July, 10.30am – 4.00pm, at Mitchell High School. Rumour has it that this carnival, organized by Townsend Community Residents’ Association, is a most vibrant event and certainly one not to miss. Entry is free and there are activities for all generations, music and family sports and games.

The leaders of the 4 main political parties in Stoke-on-Trent City Council announced this afternoon that they are going to form a coalition cabinet. The cabinet will be made up of 5 Labour members, 2 City Independents, 2 Conservative Independent Alliance and one LibDem.


I must be really sad me! But, I have to say I'm really looking forward to this week and reporting on the shenanigans of Stoke-on-Trent City Council. Thursday's Annual Council meeting should be a belter.

Everyone seems to believe that a deal has already been done to form a coalition of the Labour, Conservative, Lib Dem and Independent Groups to run Stoke-on-Trent City Council. Although Labour are thrilled to have increased their numbers on the council they actually gained more than they thought and it has given them a big headache.
