Government cuts in funding have forced Stoke-on-Trent College to review it's arrangements for delivering community learning. The cuts have forced Stoke-on-Trent College to end it's contract with Community Partnership Learning [CPL] which has delivered adult courses in community centres across the six towns for the past six years. Although some courses will still run in Normacot the effects of the decision will be felt among ethnic communities across Stoke-on-Trent.
Residents in North Shelton will have the opportunity to view detailed rejuvenation plans and offer their views to help shape the rejuvenation of 8 sites in the area. Renew North Staffordshire wants to get views on options for the following 8 areas: creation of a pedestrian route in Snow Hill bordered by mews houses next to St Mark’s Church, the refurbishment of the Bell and Bear pub, the redevelopment of the chest clinic on Wellesley Street into family housing and the creation of a nature trai
Port Vale defender Gareth Owen will be leading the line for the 2010k, the 10k run celebrating the centenary of the federation of Stoke-on-Trent. Gareth will be officially lending his support to the event at Vale Park on Tuesday 27 April, and if Vale don’t make it to the League Two play off final, will join “running paramedic” Ray Edensor in taking part in the event, taking place on Sunday 30 May.
The mother of a baby left outside the Makki Masjid Mosque in Shelton, Stoke-on-Trent on Saturday March 6 has been found safe and well. Detectives attended an address in Stoke-on-Trent yesterday, Thursday 25 March, where a 27-year-old woman, together with her 29-year-old husband, was arrested in connection with the baby’s death. They are currently in police custody.
Staffordshire Police are appealing for the mother of the new born baby found outside the Islamic Centre in Shelton on Saturday to Come forward. Detectives are renewing their appeal for the mother of a baby left outside a mosque in Stoke-on-Trent to come forward. Tomorrow, Saturday 13 March, marks the one week anniversary of the baby being left outside the Islamic Centre in Shelton.
Staffordshire Police have referred themselves to the Independent Police Complaint Commission after a baby boy was found outside Makki Masjid Mosque, Shelton on Saturday (6th March) morning. It was said at the time the police arrived at the Mosque that child was found to be dead, but was reported later that the baby had in-fact been alive but had past away later on Saturday, at the UHNS.

The Sentinel carried an article today on the damage done in a Forsbrook Children’s play area by someone who used part of the equipment to exercise his bull terrier after bite marks were found on a rubber seat. A few weeks ago the local newspaper in Macclesfield also reported damage done to trees in a local park by bull terriers biting on to branches.
School children will provide music and song to help celebrate a carol concert and lights switch on event in Shelton. Stoke-on-Trent City Council officers and representatives from RENEW North Staffordshire will also join Signal Radio presenter Doug Wood for an afternoon of ‘Christingle’ festivities from 4pm on Saturday (5 December) which has been organised by Upper Shelton Residents Association, Reverend Keith Haywood and the Shelton Ward Councillors.
