Commenting on the retirement of Mark Fisher MP, Conservative Parliamentary candidate, Norsheen Bhatti said: [quote]"It is very sad that ill health has forced Mark to retire, and I thank him for everything he has done for Stoke. However at the next election local people face a very clear choice between 5 more years of Gordon Brown making things worse, or a chance for change with David Cameron and the Conservative Party.

Stoke Central Conservative PPC Norsheen Bhatti and the local party intend to stand up for the local pub community and support The Coachmakers campaign against it's proposed closure. Recent figures show that a net 3,690 local pubs have closed under Labour. On top of Gordon Brown’s above-inflation rises in alcohol duty imposed in the Budget local pubs will face above-inflation hikes in their Rateable Values – and thus their tax bills.

Well done Gary Elsby, Barry Stockley and Mick Williams for finally taking a stand in that they are taking legal action against their treatment by the local Labour Party. I only wish I had done so when I could, and should have done. Needless to say, any assistance I can give, I will gladly do so. I know with the meetings I went to that there was no way Gary Elsby was going to be Labour candidate.

Public sector workers across Stoke Central could become their own boss and deliver better services under new Conservative plans, backed by Norsheen Bhatti, the Conservative Parliamentry Candidate for Stoke Central, this week. Under bold proposals, public sector workers would have a powerful new right to form employee-owned co-operatives to take over the services they deliver.

It would appear that the issue surrounding the selection of candidates in the Labour Party is not exclusive to Stoke-on-Trent. In this week's Tribune, the magazine for Labour supporters, there is an article by Chris McLaughlin which exposes yet another example of candidates imposed or excluded against the wishes of the rank and file membership. In this case it is the last remaining London seat to select a candidate Leyton & Wanstead.
