Conservative Parliamentary Candidates Condemn English Defence League Rally

Stoke-on-Trent’s three Conservative Parliamentary candidates have jointly and roundly condemned the English Defence League march which is due to take place this weekend in the City Centre.

Norsheen Bhatti, James Rushton and Andy Large expressed their disappointment and concern that the EDL have targeted Hanley for their demonstrations, which have often resulted in violence and hatred towards those who oppose the views of the EDL.

Andy Large, PPC for Stoke North said,

“Stoke-on-Trent doesn’t want or need the extremist views of the EDL. All over the City, people want to go about their lives holding moderate opinions about religion, faith and ethnicity. The EDL want to spread hatred, threat and extremism. The Conservatives oppose this and are convinced that listening, relationship building and compromise are the keys to delivering improvements for Stoke-on-Trent. We hope that the people of this great City will reject the EDL and ignore this demonstration, with the result that the EDL will not return in a hurry.”

James Rushton, PPC for Stoke South said,

“Conservatives recognise that Stoke-on-Trent has it’s problem areas, but we fundamentally disagree that starting a faith or race war is the answer. We need to convince residents that there is another solution, through working together, using fresh ideas to change Stoke-on-Trent for the better.”

Norsheen Bhatti, Conservative PPC for Stoke Central will be attending the NorSCARF Peace and Unity march and vigil taking place in the City Centre on Saturday, in response to the EDL march.

That's because most of them

That's because most of them are common purpose, paying lip service to the electorate whilst at the same time selling out the country with their pro-EU, pro-islam policies.
I don't know who they think they're fooling, the people are onto them.

Right! And to think some still worry about the influence of Freemasonary..

Why don't they, or their pals

Why don't they, or their pals in other parties, comment on this site? I personally would welcome them. We need someone who is willing to talk to the citizenry.

Simple Bernard; they're too

Simple Bernard; they're too scared simply because they'd have to think on their feet instead of scuttling off to ask how to respond via a party approved statement.

But actually i think our local lot are quite good in this respect; Shaun, Gary, Mike Barnes. David Jack. Pondo. Some of the Independents. Hope I haven't left anyone else out.

As for the other lot I'm sure they come here, read and tremble!

Know what you mean. When's that Tory 'excellent' dumped on us belly dancing defector from the Lib/dems candidate going to take advantage of this place to introduce herself then?

Oh yeah, and no helping her out Shaun!

Pooter couldn't agree more,

Pooter couldn't agree more, its the same old story They will spout their party lines, but won't dare speak until the clowns in London allow them to.
We have seen what happens when they speak out of turn.
Which is one of the reasons why this city suffers so much.

Terry, you're right. The

Terry, you're right. The place is full of wimps happy to accept any old dross imposed on us from afar.

This is the case with Labour, the Cons and now, even the BNP!

At the outset I felt genuinely sorry for Gary and Shaun: no more - particularly when I read Shaun's grovelling post earlier. Dumped on, betrayed, this twit still blindly shows loyalty to those that dumped on him! Oh, and likewise Gary - why the hell do you two continue in this way? Are you both Masochists? Do you both perhaps enjoy being pubically humiliated?

You two worms! You two are both local men! We want local men presenting us, not some carpetbagging outsider from nowhere.

Well done Albie Walker for getting angry enough to turn and savagely bite back as hard as he could.

You need to wake up to the

You need to wake up to the threat of the islamification of Britain and sharia law - this is a christian country you set of W*****s

No it isn't, it's a secular

No it isn't, it's a secular country with the head of state as head of CofE and a load of religious minorities. Despite what people put on census forms the vast majority are secular by lifestyle and the fact they don't attend any form of worship. If you want this to be a Christian country go to church instead of trying to preach some 21st century crusade.

Oh come now, don't be so

Oh come now, don't be so naive. We all know that this free speech malarkey only cuts one way, and that's whichever way does the most to upset muslims. After all, we couldn't possibly stop provoking them otherwise who would this toss government be able to make war on? Likewise, why haven't they caught Bin-Laden yet? Couldn't possibly be because if we're not fighting or hating anyone then what would the govt do to distract the plebs?

Craig Pond's picture

Yes David, I'm

Yes David,
I'm tired of our government provoking them too. Giving them houses, benefits, school places, the nations wealth, I don't know who they think they are torturing these poor muslims like that!
They should just leave them alone to breed us out of our homeland.

Of all the morons who post on here, you are the one most in need of having his keyboard taken away, because you are without doubt, the biggest font of bullsh*t in Stoke-on-Trent.

I do like winding you Mr Chav, it's just so easy.

The conservative candidates

The conservative candidates are absolutely right to condemn what occured on Saturday. The event should NEVER have been allowed to take place in that location. It was designed to cause maximum inconvenience to local people and the police should have disallowed it.

Indeed, if I owned a business in Hanley, I would be seriously considering taking action for loss of earnings.

But I would also condemn the left wing extremsits that were in Hanley to counter-protest against the EDL. They just make matters worse, and they are not welcome here any more than the EDL are.

Rather than attending the Norscarf rally, we should be telling them not to come here, to stop trying to turn our city into their battlefield and to leave us alone.

If we have local problems with extremism, it should be dealt with by local people. We do not need far left extremists or far right extremists from all around the country coming here with their circus. The police must ensure that these events are not allowed here again.

i feel that the islamization

i feel that the islamization of britain needs a voice. this is a MAJOR problem. the edl are this vioce.

it is a small minority who create the violence and the edl are not responsible for these idiots.
the edl is an "open to every1" group so it is not the fault of the edl if a few idiots come to cause trouble.
the edl are paying for all damage caused.

if you took a moment to look into the muslim exstremists u would relise what they have there sights set on.

there is a major problem

bad press at demos is the cause of the bad name of the edl.
they choose to ignore all the charity buckets that were circulating and the ex soldiers who have witnessed first hand a country that is run by sharia law. these boys are the edls main speakers.

let the edl have the freedom to demonstrate and enlighten the uneducated (the folk who no nohing of sharia laws) of a problem that just keeps getting bigger.

thanks
matt
