Football Fan Dies After Being Being Found Collapsed At Match.

Stoke City’s home game with Blackburn on Saturday was saddened with the death of a travelling Blackburn supporter.

The man of 30, who has not yet been named, was found collapsed on the South Stand concourse just after 4pm on Saturday 6th February. Some 1,300 travelling fans were using that area of the ground.

A 25-year old man from Preston who was also with travelling fans has been arrested in connection with the attack. Unconfirmed reports say he used a waste bin to hit the victim around the head . CCTV footage is now being viewed by police, who say that the incident did not involve any home supporters. Interviews are also being taken by police from witnesses.

The man was found unconscious by stewards and police who tended to him has he required medical care urgently for a head injury and cardiac arrest. He was treaded be paramedics in the concourse area before being taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.

He passed away in hospital at 01.55am on Sunday morning.

UPDATE:- It was comfirmed

UPDATE:- It was comfirmed just after 20.00 this evening that the man was named John Steven Taylor, a bricklayer, of Avallon Way, Darwin, Lanceshire. A Home Office Post Morten carryed out today comfirmed the cause of death was due to a head injury.

UPDATE-: The 25 year old Preston man has been relised on baile pending futher police inquiries. Police are also watching videos taken by surporters on the day.
